Crumblingly, Willingly
03:12
|

In the park I stopped at a tree
Built to hold together temporarily
I had to thank it for covering me
Questionably, but willfully
When I travel, wherever I go
I hold these parcels that only I know
Afraid of one falling out through a hole
Or the highway patrol
So the rock cannot roll
The best it knows how, this tree covers me
I think the thoughts I was thinking at three
I sleep inside my warm memories
Unquestioningly, and willingly
When the hail falls, it shaves the treetops like it were a saw
And the bark starts to fall
And down it will come, cradle and all
And then when I wake
I've misplaced all my dear memories
I've forgotten my name
And I find it hard to believe
That there ever was a tree
That remembered so crumblingly
In this thing I only now call me
And revealed to me everything that I see

I turned to face what wasn't up to me
All these tries before I couldn't believe logically
What I would find through every inch that I could be
Could vaporize me
Wasn't up to me
All this breeze through the eucalyptus trees
Calms my buzz
Pluck the feathers
Stretch the fuzz
Breeze won't stir
Through the pine and juniper
Burn my skin
Press the petals
Walk Again
Thank the Meadows
Talk Again
With your eyes closed is the only time
In which you'll have a chance to find
Your mind

Purgatory Pup

Listen, Mittens!
I've got a ton of money
On which goose is gonna lay a ton
Which one they're gonna cook
And which one watches all the fun
I can shout commands and make demands
Take my carpet by the hand
Flying will be easy
But we'll have to land
I'm loved by everybody
My coat is soft and full
And I'm playing with the cat
My neck gives me a sudden pull
My best friend's out the door and down the street
The rescue wasn't quite complete
I'm feeling kinda nervous
And I'd like to eat
Don't worry about me
I'm already free
Free as candy...
The worst that could happen
The bark of a tree
Brought to its knees...
Until the blanket's pulled up to the chins of everyone in town,
We're not sleeping when we're at home safe and sound
And as I float above the center of the sleeping sea
I wish that someone from somewhere was singing this to me
Until the blanket's pulled up to the chins of everyone in town,
We're not sleeping when we're at home safe and sound
And as I float above the center of the sleeping sea
I wish that someone from somewhere was singing this to me
Carry me away from all this subtle "hostile'tality"
Give me a carpet soft and wide and free
I guess I'll notice when all the water comes up to the roof
They'll be a puddle forming all around inside of me
But I can't see the florist for the bees
And you can't pass the carrots without "please"
I thought they feared us
But we feared them the most
We're peppered, they're scrambled
We're toast!
Our spirits floated
Left their earthly host
Blown around by splashing winds emitted from the coast
Was I in an accident
Do I have any broken bones
Did someone call my mom
Is there someone or am I alone
Was it a dentist that I hit
I've asked you this before
Probably asked you this all night...
But was I in an accident
Do I have any broken bones
Did someone call my mom
Is there someone or am I alone
Was it a dentist that I hit
I've asked you this before
Probably asked you this all night
I won't ask anymore
I'm sorry I'm such a bore
I'll just show me to the door...

Found my way to the attic through a hole in your wall
Looking for trouble, as I told you, was all
Hiking past plastic fir trees and paper volcanoes
What I didn't expect to see was a tiny tornado
Tied up with wool that you carefully spun
Were letters you wrote that you read to no one
Now nothing I knew you to know could hold up a candle
Never would you say a word when you flew off the handle
I believe you but I can't tell you
Just like me, that's how your parents taught you
They took you and no one was a witness
They saw you and thought you were a princess
When you came back to Earth you had nothing to say
If you tried to explain they would take you away
But I think if I practice I'll figure it out
Close my eyes and I'll see you describing the route
There's a star, it's farther than heaven
It's where you are
And it's somewhere that you have been
When I'm awake, I'll have to have a witness
But I saw you and you looked like a princess

A Father's Advice
02:19
|
|||
The wind can make even shadows blow
So watch what sweeps your feet
The moon can make any lady know
If your heart means to cheat
I know you're grown and so you know...
You'll never find out who'll be true
Not even with a ring
But blindly trust like children do
Allow your heart to sing
For when you give up on someone...
And never ask for someone's love
It is the greatest gift
Don't validate why it should come
It's rather like a swift
For when it sings and flies away...

Fix my eyes, hypnotized,
I found out
I realize...
That diving board, diving board there's a place for you in dreams
You answer to the water's call beneath the sunlight's beam
And diving board, diving board when I'm too scared to start
You're the match that lights the spark beneath my driftwood heart
If I see someone who I feel is looking through
My soul and makes a bee-line for my eyes
I dart from the fire manifesting a choir
And I climb to the procession that applies
Spring has come again
And fall's the only end
It's the only place I know of to begin
When I was young my mother took me to the place where I was born
Dug up her wedding dress and blindly pointed fingers scarred with scorn
Then threw it at my head and asked me,
"How could you have gone so wrong?
The costume couldn't fit and the life that goes with it
And It's not because your legs have grown too long
And you know I'm never wrong."
But diving board, diving board
Your life is but a dream
That takes me where I'd love to go
Beneath the sunlight's beam
Oh and swimming pool, swimming pool
I'll meet you when I'm through
This long and lonely day of work I'll rest inside of you
