about

These were the songs sung by a foursome that will probably never sing them again. To me, singing these songs was a joyous and collaborative moment in my life. I was so happy to be surrounded by such talented human beings that I let my fear of losing them and the thoughts of all the better things I thought they could do - sans me - sometimes get in the way of the immediate joy I know we all felt. The quartet that performed these songs (2009 - 2011) is luckier, however, than many other live iterations of The Ocean Floor in that someone stepped up to make sure these songs were documented before they slipped out of our hands' memories like so many other songs have before. Thank you, Bob Schwenkler and Dub Narcotic Studios for saving these old songs from a sinking ship. I think they sound a little better with a couple of years on them. And lastly thank you to my mother for gracing the cover of this short album. The picture is a still from an old home movie of the trip in which she moved from Ohio to Florida (where she has lived for the past 58 years). I'd like to dedicate this collection to her and hope she'll enjoy listening to it with fond memories of the past.
